I have this thing with...

...the city at night.

So, I know these photo's go against all of the white & bright blogger rules, but there's just something about the city at night that I absolutely love. Considering I used to be afraid of the dark in my bedroom when I was little, I've actually always loved being outside at night. I feel like there's just something a little magical about it.

This may be why I have a not-so-secret love for Autumn and Winter, and one of the reasons I was oh so desperate to stay living in my lovely little flat recently when it got a little touch and go a few weeks ago.

I think it's the strange sense of calmness that comes with the city not being as hectic as it is during the day, but that sense of never being quite alone, because there's always the sound of cars going past or faint music coming from somewhere.

Living by the docks, with the city lights reflecting in the water, the constant, slight breeze, and the fresh air making evening walks just even more therapeutic & beautiful.

I'm so excited for the Winter months to draw in as we get closer to Christmas. Christmas shopping after work is one of my absolute favourite things, particularly when the Christmas lights are switched on in the city.. I'm genuinely smiling to myself right now just thinking about it.

Yes, I did just mention the C word before bonfire night. But, I'm TOO excited! Sorry...

  1. Such beautiful photos Sophie - I love the night as well, but used to hate it as a kid. I think it can be so calming!

  2. Totally agree! I think you can best get a sense of the personality of a city first thing in the morning and just as it gets dark! Great photos x

  3. Yes, this is one thing I love about cities! Whenever I visit London and am there in the evening I will ALWAYS walk along the South Bank at night. In Autumn and Winter it's BEAUTIFUL.

  4. Such a inspirational post! You just went out of the "blog" box with this photos and I love it, despite of being white & bright or not. I feel the same about the cenario of city nights and, of course, I like to enjoy it with a thematical playlist.

    From your brazilian reader,

  5. These are such lovely photos!

I always find cities so beautiful at night, it definitely has something to do with the lack of hustle and bustle...and those pretty lights.

Yaaaaaaaaaas to the C word, I cannot contain my excitement!xx

  6. It's not a secret that I love the colder months as well, and there's just something about the calmness of the night that makes it so gorgeous. Although, I am more of a 6AM morning wanderings kind of person.
