Sometimes, it's just the little things that can make you the happiest.
Last Thursday evening, I packed my bags and headed down south for a long weekend in Brighton with one of my best friends. It was a girly staycation that was so badly needed, that pretty much consisted of life chats and catch up's over coffee, walks along the beach, getting lost in The Lanes and hunting out the colourful streets & beach huts for future Instagram posts (okay, so that last bit was just me, but still...).
I lost count how many times both Em and I shouted 'I can see the sea!', how many times Em told me she was 'content' with the biggest smile on her face, or how many times that I too, realised I was just completely relaxed and feeling happy.
It's weekends like this that you realise how much the little things really do matter. Whether it was just getting a little more sleep than normal, cosy-ing up on the comfiest sofa with a cup of tea, blankets and Saturday night TV, eating whatever I wanted without feeling guilty, or laughing out loud for the first time in a few weeks.
THE LITTLE THINGS? THE LITTLE MOMENTS? THEY AREN'T LITTLE.
It was also the first time in a few weeks that I felt like I had the time and the motivation to sit and catch up on all of my favourite blogging ladies, and there was something about Brighton that seems to have brought my inspiration right back from wherever it's been hiding.
This weekend, I vowed to make sure that I didn't worry about anything, that I focused solely on enjoying myself, on spending time with my best friend and exploring somewhere new. Because taking time for yourself and appreciating these little things is really necessary every once in a while, right?
