Shout out to my ex... and everyone else, for making me who I am.
I'm not even going to pretend that I haven't been listening to the new Little Mix song, on repeat, forever, for the last few days. Although, by the reaction this tweet got on Friday, I haven't been the only one and you guys have been loving it just as much as me. Which tbh, makes me feel A LOT better..
Not even sorry that I've just listened to #ShoutOutToMyEx on repeat about 32 times in a row 💁🏻😂💃🏻— Soph (@sophierosie) October 21, 2016
I've never really discussed my relationships/dating/love life on my blog or social media before, because I guess it's just one part of my life that I like to keep off the internet. Yes, there have been posts that have been about or inspired by certain people, but I've never openly talked about it. And, before you start asking, I'm not about to, either.
But, I think there's something about the lyrics in Shout Out To My Ex that everyone can relate to. And no, I'm not talking about that line in the first verse either. ;)
I'm talking about how people from your past can fully shape the person you grow into. Whether that be an ex or just someone you dated for a few months. It could be the people you went to school with or a dance teacher. It could be an ex colleague or your old boss. You get my drift...
Our experiences with people can really shape us. They can change the way we react and deal with situations, they can influence the decisions that we make, and without going too cliché, they really do make us stronger, even if sometimes we feel like they've made us more vulnerable. They most definitely haven't, I promise you.
YOU SURVIVED WHAT YOU THOUGHT WOULD BREAK YOU. NOW STRAIGHTEN THAT CROWN & MOVE FORWARD LIKE THE QUEEN THAT YOU ARE.
So, this is a thank you, to anyone that hasn't made it easy. To those that have broken me, hurt me, walked all over me. It's only because of you that I've discovered the strength to build myself back up again, overcome things that I never thought I would, find the confidence to stand up for myself, and discover how to find happiness in just being me.
You haven't come out on top here. I have.
