Airport Style.

Good mornin' folks! I'm currently writing this post sat in Caffe Nero, with a super large coffee on hand after approximately 5 hours sleep, after landing back at the flat at 2.30AM this morning from a glorious week on my hollibobs. I have SO many photo's and so much content that I can't wait to share with you guys, so this is my first attempt at organising the thousands of photo's that are now sat on my camera. HELP ME.

I thought I'd start with an airport style outfit post, 'cause if you're anything like me, what you wear for travelling can be just as tricky a decision as what you take in your suitcase. Like, do you go for style or comfort? Jeans or your trusty old joggers? Do you dress for British weather or for Greek weather? Jacket or not? Decisions, huh?

Even though I'm a super anxious flyer, I LOVE the whole travelling part of the holiday. Getting the airport, grabbing a coffee, browsing through duty free with all the excitement of your week to come. I just love it.

I opted to wear my Topshop Joni jeans for the flight, mainly because I knew I needed to take them anyway, and they're incredibly comfortable. I paired them with my Primark blue and white pinstriped shirt, and my 'clumpy's', as Tasha has fondly nicknamed this style of shoe. If I'm being completely honest, I wore these shoes for travelling mainly because they were my heaviest shoe and like, luggage weight allowance and all that. BUT I knew they would also be comfortable, and they made me feel slightly more 'I'm on holiday!' than my converse would've!

I can't describe my love for this shirt either, if only because it makes me feel all grown up and stuff. And, if we excuse how all creased it got on the train to the airport, I love the way it fits. It's slightly tailored, but slightly slouchy. If that's even a thing. Probs not.

I accessorised with my ultimate fave Daniel Wellington watch, and my Thomas Sabo bracelet that I've fully re-kindled my love for recently. And of course, my sunglasses.

I switched thing's up a bit on the way home, due to us leaving the hotel at 7pm, it was still pretty hot and we had a 45 minute coach ride back to airport. We'd also been warned about the queues at Santorini airport (that's another, terribly long story..), so I switched my 'clumpy's' for my even more comfortable Birkenstocks.

I switched to my black bikini bandeau top underneath the same shirt, if only because my bra would've really hurt my sunburn. Whoops. Tucking my shirt in, but leaving it slightly unbuttoned, also ensured I kept cool on the journey. Until of course we got on the plane, at which point I buttoned up and wrapped myself in my scarf because omg aircraft air con. SO COLD.

What are your go-to's when travelling?

  1. Great post! I totally agree that it's so difficult to know what to wear when flying! Like what climate are you supposed to dress for?!
I really like your outfit, especially the shirt! :) x

  2. I definitely love the travelling part too, even though airports can be a bit stressful sometimes they're so exciting to me! :) There's just something about the atmosphere. I definitely always go for comfy when I'm on a flight - I'll usually wear a pair of leggings and a simple shirt. I'm looking forward to the upcoming posts on your trip, I hope you two had an amazing time x

  3. I currently live in Australia so any flight for me out of the country is at least 4 hours to 24 hours so comfort all the way. If I'm flying to another state I might just wear some jeans but usually I go all out, leggings or trackies, shoes that slip on and off easily in case I have to go to the toilet during the flight and something warm as well.

  4. I love airport-style! I usually opt for jeans, my heaviest shoes and a comfy, but stylish jumper. If I'm going long haul, I pack fluffy socks in my hand luggage for a little extra comfort :)
My most ridiculous airport outfit though was basically wearing full riding kit to go to Ireland in order to minimise my hand luggage! I packed my helmet, but had boots and a back protector on to walk through the airport haha!

  5. Love this outfit! I feel like it strikes the perfect, perfect balance between style and comfort - the latter being utterly necessary for long plane journeys!

Glad you had a good time and that you're back safe and sound!

  6. Oh my gosh I hate how they alway make planes so cold!

I love this look - I wish I looked that stylish when I travelled. I always thrown on my comfiest most oversized pieces of clothing, and usually my heaviest shoes (which I take off and replace with a pair of super warm socks as soon as I board the plane!).

  7. I love that shirt and how you styled it. I tend to wear leggings and trainers on a plane because I'm generally going long haul and at that point fashion does not matter at all to me! You cannot go wrong with an oversized shirt and leggings combo though - so comfy but put together!

  8. I've actually never travelled on a plane before which really upsets me but reading posts like these make me lust for an abroad getaway! I love the outfit, the shirt is to die for.

  9. Both of these looks are great and a good way to show how packing light doesn't mean you can't pull off different looks with what you have!

  10. Such a well written post Sophie. I can completely relate to the many issues that run through a girl's head when deciding on a travelling outfit. I think you nailed it with both the comfort and style :)
