Oh hey, guys! Today I turn 22. How did I get to 22 again?
Please tell me that everyone else feels like life is going a little bit too quickly, too? Like, it doesn't seem two minutes since I was celebrating my 21st, and now, a whole 12 months later, my life is so, so different its a little hard to even explain how much happier I am.
Birthday's are for all the positive vibes right? And I was thinking the other day about just how much happier I actually am. I have a job I enjoy, and get to work with the loveliest people, I have a lovely little flat in the most beautiful city, and I have the absolute best friends and family a girl could ask for.
And I think it's safe to say that you can learn a lot in 22 years. I've learned that I like blue & white stripes. I've learned that midi skirts suit my figure. I've learned that red lipstick is my thing, and I've learned that the speciality caramelatte with whipped cream and caramel drizzle from Caffe Nero is quite literally (and I never use this word...) bae.
If there's one other thing that I've come to realise, it's that life is better when you stop caring. Positivity is a must, and if we start to let things, and people, that really don't matter get us down, then we might end up getting ourselves in a little bit of a pickle.
Focusing on what makes you happy is the best thing you can do. I know how hard it can be to forget the bad stuff, trust me, but when you have good people around you, it gets a whole lot easier.
Being happy and confident in yourself is also a massive part of it. And again, this isn't easy. There's often a lot of hurdles that you have to jump before you can get to this point, but once you do, and you realise that you've been able to let things go, it's the absolute best feeling.
I'm hoping to carry on working on just being myself. Appreciating all the little things in life that make me smile, and the things that are just, well... fun, and beautiful, and that make me happy.
Everyday, I try to remind myself how lucky I am to be happy and healthy, and 22.
Have a lovely day, folks! :)
