Thick coats & scarves.

I've recently invested in two new coats for my wardrobe, and I know what you're thinking, we're nearly in March Soph, spring is just around the corner, why are you buying coats?! Right? Well, I thought this too, as I was eyeing up this beaut of a black one in Zara. But, then it occurred to me that I live in England. And not just England, the North West of England, which kinda means thick coats are pretty much on the cards most of the year round.

The next thing on my 'To Treat Myself To..' list is a Burberry scarf because omg I've always wanted one and how fabulous would it look over the top of all black everything? However, while I um, try, and save up for one of those, this New Look scarf does the trick just fine!

The red in the tartan seems to pull the red lipstick and the peep of red from my handbag all together. It was so unintentional, but it totally works, right!?

Speaking of my handbag, this City Bag is another Zara find, and I absolutely love it. The red on the inside reminds me of a pair of Christian Louboutins, so this is basically the same thing. Yes? No? Okay, okay, shush, a girl can dream. One day.

I really like that this is quite a sophisticated and smart look, but it's still rather casual at the same time, and swap the heeled boots for a trusty pair of trainers or flats, and you could casual it down even more. Told you I was determined to make my wardrobe versatile!

What do you think of this look? Do you own anything similar?

  6. I bought a new coat this weekend and I had the thought process you mentioned at the start. But like you living in the NW, I live in Yorkshire and I believe there are approximately four weeks out of the entire year that I don't need a coat, so it's an investment (plus it was on sale in Dorothy Perkins so I could hardly say no).

If you live north of Birmingham, I think it's a given that you need a nice coat so you did the right thing. Especially as Zara coats are so gorgeous, and this is no exception.

  7. Big scarfs and coats are such staples in a British wardrobe because I find that for most of the year it makes up most of my outfit so it is basically legit to buy lots of them... treat yo'self. loved this post!!
