#IGiveASpit for Anthony Nolan

I first heard of the Anthony Nolan #IGiveASpit campaign a few weeks ago, and the more I read about it, the more I wanted to get involved. The campaign around the hashtag is currently being backed by loads of celebrities, as well as, as far as I can gather, a good number of bloggers too!

Around 25,000 people a year are diagnosed with blood cancer, and for some, a bone marrow transplant can be their last chance at life.

Anthony Nolan is an amazing charity who save and support the lives of people with blood cancer and blood disorders. Their campaign is in a bid to try and raise awareness of the UK's register of stem cell donors. At the minute, there are over 500,000 potential donors on the register, but even at this, only 60% of patients are able to find a perfect match. Anthony Nolan aim to find a donor for every person who needs one, and they really need more young people, (particularly young men aged 16-30) to register and well, 'give a spit'!

Designer Ashish has created this fun and customisable t-shirt, to get our creative juices flowing as well as helping to raise awareness for the campaign. It's also a great way of highlighting that all we need to do to get ourselves on the register, is to spit into a tiny tube! Simple!

If you are of good health, you can sign up to join the register now! They send you a 'spit kit', so that you can provide your sample of saliva, and then, from this, they can determine if you are a match for a patient in the future. It couldn't be easier!

If you want to get involved, or simply learn a little bit more about what Anthony Nolan do, as well as the #IGiveASpit campaign, you can visit their website, or click here.

Also, if you want to grab yourself a fabulous t-shirt to help spread the awareness both on and off social media, visit their eBay store (here), or if you're around in London, you can visit the design and print boutique YRSTORE in Topshop, Oxford Circus to create your own too!

  3. What a brilliant cause. I've always said that I would donate in a heart beat if I knew I was a match for someone, but of course I've never actually signed up to anything. Signing up now!
